I was born in Charlottesville, Virginia 21 years ago and lived there for the first 18 years of my life before moving to Fredericksburg to start College at UMW. I went to preschool, elementary school, middle school and high school all in Charlottesville. Charlottesville is a beautiful town and a great place to grow up.
I began swimming competitively when I was about 6 years old and still to this day continue to swim. I love to swim because of the team camaraderie, the competitive nature of the sport, and the opportunity to continuously improve. I don’t only enjoy the competing that swimming has to offer. I also enjoy the training, the exhausting practices, meeting new people through the sport and discovering the way they approach the sport, the humbling nature, and yes even the early mornings.
While these photos seem eerily similar they really were taken 6 years apart. However the pools are only located about 1 mile away from each other, for what it’s worth.
My choice to come to the University of Mary Washington was based on UMW’s academic excellence and its Varsity Swim Team. Swimming for UMW for the past 3 years has been an incredible experience.
In addition to swimming I also enjoy watching and following professional sports teams. I am a die hard fan of all the Washington D.C. Namely the Redskins, Wizards, Nationals, and Capitals
At Mary Washington, I study math and business. I love math because it is the subject in which all that we observe is based. The hierarchy of the sciences is all based on math. For example biology is based on chemistry, which is based on physics, which is based on math. A dream of mine is to be able to apply the math I have learned to the business I have learned and use the two together. A pipe dream would be to use the two together so well that I become a hedgefund manager. Maybe some day… 🙂
One of my favorite mathematical concepts is using multivariable calculus to solve the volume bounded by two functions under a three dimensional function by using double integrals.
I also love to travel. The last two summers I have traveled to Spain to study abroad and learn to speak Spanish fluently. He visitado muchas ciudades en España.
The photo at the top of this page was taken during my second trip to Europe in Lagos, Portugal (in case your were wondering).
